It's been pretty quiet, but I have been taking lots of pictures. I went through this moon phase and then the cardinals took over. They still mess with me, but seem a little more accepting of my presence and will share the yard with me for a little while. Also trying to catch birds in flight, that was fun. I had to do some serious pruning of a few saplings near the bird feeders, they were blocking my view. They're still there, just not as tall, more like bushes. :)
I ordered and just received a new lens. It's a Micro and attaches to my existing lens. I wanted to see what kind of pictures I would get and if it was something I wanted to pursue before purchasing a "real" lens. So far, so good. It takes some getting used to though, focusing is a bit tricky.
So I headed into the garden for some practice.
The Peonies are currently in bloom, so I headed straight for them.
While the white peonies are beautiful and smell wonderful, I've always liked the inside of the flower, the pinks and yellows against the white always struck me as pretty. Now I can see them really close!
Spotted this spider and he was so still, I had to get a picture of him. I have to keep reminding myself that they're useful, but man are they creepy looking. :)
The roses are not doing too well this year, but still make for a pretty picture.
Purple butterfly brush. The lens seems to give some of the flowers a dreamy quality, blurry and soft.
Here is the other peony, the dark pink ones.
And inside the light pink peony.
There must be some really good nectar seeping out of the buds of the peonies because I always see these black ant crawling all over them. Once the flowers bloom out, the ants don't seem to be as interested.
Day one of using the micro lens and while the pictures seem more blurry than clear, I kind of like the effect. Next time I'll use the tripod, that might help some. Will keep you all posted, naturally. :)
