The gardens are still a work in progress, and the majority of what I currently have planted come out in the summer. The bigger garden is off to the side of the house and can be seen from the deck. So, if you're not on the deck, you really don't see much of it.
Home from work one evening, it was so warm that I opened the doors leading to the deck and a bit of color to the right caught my eye.
Roses!
I wasn't expecting them this early, but the pink ones are out already.
After spotting the roses, I noticed the peonies had started to bloom, another surprise.
I only have 3 plants right now, in white,
pink,
and magenta.
I took the above pictures before noon. It was cool and overcast, so after getting these shots, I went inside to take care of some chores. At about 3pm, I noticed the sun was out I came out onto the deck for a look around. I looked over and saw that some of the peonies were now opened
I'm not sure if the white one will open any more than it already has. It's flower is much larger that the others. I hope to add more of them.
Then I noticed these:
I always thought they were a pale pink. I always see them in the woods from a distance. Today, I noticed a small cluster at the base of one of the trees in the backyard.
There's a bit more to them than I thought.
The last surprise were the hanging flower baskets I bought last week. The flower buds were all closed and the tag only indicated that the plant would cascade when it grew out. I didn't know what kind of flowers would show, until today.
I wonder what surprises are in store for me next week... :)
